Minimalists
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Minimalists is a minimalist colony sim, with the objective to make as much money as possible, while also keeping your colonists in good shape. Your colonists have one main need, hunger, which you need to suffice.
You start out with 2-4 colonists, and from there, you must assign them jobs, give them weapons, and make the most out of the iceberg you landed on. Raiders will attack occasionally, so you need to make sure your colonists are well prepared to attack, as the raids only get bigger as time goes on.
Music is by Context Sensitive (https://context-sensitive.com/) on the 20XX album, be sure to check him out.
All feedback is appreciated, and yes, I know the UI looks like shit, I'm aware, I'm going to look into how to make good UI sometime soon.

I tested your game to try it out and have some feedback.
Firstly, there is no way to exit the game or return to the main menu once you have started the game. This is unacceptable.
Second the tutorial needs work, it doesn't explain the game very well as I still couldn't grasp the game after reading it. The scrolling up to read lines of text is odd and different but not in a good way. Even lines of text and pictures would probably be better. The advice offered in the tutorial isn't true either, with the B to build button not functioning. I found myself still confused upon returning to play after reading the tutorial. Why not allow the tutorial to be read while playing from the pause menu? It also doesn't explain how everything works, such as fighting, equipping weapons.
The choice to make raiders squares is odd seeing most of the screen is squares. I understand you are going for a minimalist game, but I have to say the game isn't minimalist. Reading through the tutorial shows the game is or is planned to be relatively complex. Paradoxically it also difficult to learn and play. A minimalist game should be easy to play and require no explanation to most players.
I suggest if you are going to continue working on this project that you:
That is all I have for now.
Hello!
Thanks for trying out my game! I get your points, especially the points about the tutorial being mediocre at best. I made this game in a week, with school going on as well, so I didn’t have the most time in the world to work on it, and the tutorial was the last thing I did, and I made it in an hour, but I do agree that I should’ve made a way to access it in-game.
While your comment is critical, I do understand your points and I agree with them. I don’t plan on working on this project anymore, but I will consider your points in future projects I decide to make when applicable. I thank you for your feedback!
Cheers!
